Meet Mang Sonna

Believing that God made each human being with a purpose and special gifts, Mang has a great respect and interest in people. He enjoys being around children, his colleagues, and senior citizens at Bethel Neighborhood Center. He says that “We have much to learn from one another if we only take the time to listen to one another.” He enjoys listening to the stories each child/youth brings as a Bethel community. Mang considers himself more as a friend, a brother, and even a father to some fatherless Bethel kids than as their teacher. “Children are too precious, I wish I could do more for these innocent people,” says Mang. He wanted to impact the lives of Bethel kids in such a way that they will grow up with hope and future in spite of the challenges they are facing at the present time.

Mang says, “Bethel is more than a place of work for me. It is a place of love where I am being touched and transformed each day. Bethel emits the love of Christ by serving others with love, understanding, humility, simplicity, and homeliness. It is a privilege to work in Bethel.”

Education:
BA with honors in Geography from St. Edmund’s College, Shillong, India (1992).

MS in Environmental Science from NEHU,
Shillong, India (1994).

M. Div. from Central Baptist Theological Seminary,
Kansas City, KS. (2004).

Doctoral student in Educational Leadership at
Oral Roberts University, Tulsa, OK.

Work Experiences:

Technical Services Assistant, Night Supervisor, and Assistant Librarian at Central Baptist Theological Seminary Library.
Served as a Principal in a Liberal Arts & Science College in India for five years.
Served as a teacher/vice principal in a Christian High School in India for a year.
Served as a Deacon in a Baptist Church in India for two years.
Served as an Executive Member in Chin Baptist Association for two years.
Actively involved in the multicultural ministry of Union of Evangelical Students in India at different capacities for more than ten years.
