Bethel House of God was rightly named for Bethel Neighborhood Center. According
to Old testament scripture, Bethel was the name given to a sacred
space by Jacob after meeting God there in a dream. Bethel Center,
for me is exactly a place where God and human meet to play, to wrestle
for our physical, emotional and spiritual well being and sometime
we meet simply to share our joys with God and with one another.
I joined the Bethel Neighborhood Center staff in January 2002, my
first year in the United States. It was God’s answer
to prayer to get an opportunity to join the Bethel ministry. I’m
blessed to have this privilege to work with children, youth and staff
of all ethnic backgrounds. Bethel does not only offer me place
to do ministry, but it also offers me a place to learn love and service.
My hope for Bethel Neighborhood Center, I pray that Bethel Neighborhood
Center continues to be a place where old and young find strength,
hope and healing to go on another day, as Jacob finds a resting place
in the midst of fear and confusion. God provided Jacob a place
called Bethel to rest and to gain strength in order for him to continue
the next part of his journey. May Bethel signify that place
to those people who are in need of rest from their life journey.
